Christmas......love it or hate it??

Its that time of year again, the lights are up, the kids are all excited and everyone is broke. Awh Christmas, it is a great time of year but omg I am broke. There's a million people to shop for but none of the money is there..lol.

I do love Christmas it's great. it was alot better when you where younger though. Once you hit that age of no Santa it just kinda starts to go downhill. There was no better feeling getting up at 6 in the morning, bursting into the sitting room and standing there gobsmacked at all Santa had brought you. I loved it.

But where now all that age where we know its not true, there's less presents but more importantly that buzz and excitement is gone out of Christmas. And honestly I don't think I'll get it back til I have kids myself.

Like I said I love Christmas, all your family is together the presents are great, the food is even better. I just wish we didn't have to loose that tiny bit of childhood.

DkIT.....Lovin it :)

So pretty much nearly done my first semester in DkIT, doing public relations and I have to say I'm lovin it. College life is great its not as tedious or restricted as school theres a lot more freedom, which is great. Also you get to study something you actually enjoy. No Irish or Biology or French..zzzzzz. Instead we get to learn things that will be useful to us as PR students.

Also, have to say have a sound class, great mix of personality's,who all have a good sense of humour and are up for the crack. It's great because I'd hate to be stuck in a boring, one-dimensional class.

So far this semester I've kept up with the assignments and stuff, so I'm proud of myself..:).And overall, you cant beat the nightlife in good old Fundalk. It's really good fun with a good mix of people

All in all, loving DkIT and what it's got to offer.Lets just hope I make it through the 4 years...

God or not ??

What a topic and a touchy one in my opinion.Anytime this question appears in my house or talk of religion in general it always ends up in a nasty debate. So we try not to talk about it due to our mixed feelings about it.Personally I find it hilarious when it does happen lol.

OK..Is there a god?? To be honest I don't have a clue I'd like to believe there was but in today's society it's pretty hard. When I was young I had to go to mass I had to say my prayers I had repent my sins every few months and I complained about every second of it. I could never understand why I had to pray to this man in the sky. And at 20 years of age I don't go to mass I don't repent my sins but sometimes I do pray. Is that of choice or habit...??.

I do find it hard to believe in god because a lot of what you read in the bible seems a bit far fetched and mainly when someone you love has died you cant possibly comprehend why god would do this and that has baffled me from the age of 8 til now.But I do totally respect people who have complete and utter faith in god

So..God. At the end of the day it depends on the person.Me, I'm not sure, I'd like to hope there is but I guess where all just gonna have to wait and see.

Search Engine Marketing...What is it??

Search Engine Marketing helps ensure that a companies brand shows when people search on google, yahoo etc. for the products or services that the company provides.
A website owner must include certain keywords throughout their site for a search engine to work successfully. The search engine then works by searching its index for those keywords and up pops the site if the keywords are put in properly to their site. So its great for people looking for your site cause its so easy and great for the website because people are going to click on it. Win win situation.

I love Tommy Tiernan

Went to see Tommy Tiernan live in Vicar Street there about 2 weeks ago and he was amazing. I've been a fan of his work since his first DVD I think he's so entertaining and the content of his shows are so original. H's even better live. He was so natural on stage and his material is brilliant. The one thing I noticed about this show is that is wasn't as crude as his other shows and he didn't talk about any touchy subjects. He took the piss of the present state of our country in a very witty way and he also talked a lot about his family and his marriage.

The one thing I can say abut him is that he is an absolute lunatic on stage. I just found myself laughing at his actions and his random outbursts into song. He is a very original comedian and a very talented human being.I would advise anyone that enjoys his style of comedy to go see him live he's there til before Christmas and the tickets are pretty reasonable.

Why advertise online ??

The world has changed over the last ten years and statistics show that 70% of Irish adults are all internet users.Ten years ago some homes didn't have computers in them now there may be one computer and 2 laptops to a household. Statistics  also show that 50% of all Irish internet users made at least 1 purchase online within the last month.People are spending hours online and are learning that purchasing online and life in general online is pretty simple.Statistics once again show that people now spend up to 7 hours of their spare time per week on the internet, that's twice as long as people spend reading the newspapers.

From advertising online companies can get a wider range of customers and can also target their products to specific customers. Also it is cheaper to advertise online. To view an ad on the Internet is free only when someone clicks on the ad and goes on the website it ends up costing the company. So advertising online is a huge money saver for companies. So because the world id advancing so quickly in technology and that people find purchasing online very simple and effective, advertising online is  important for companies.

Social Networking

Social networking is a really positive and negative thing. Things like bebo, facebook and twitter are worldwide  communication sites. Its great to be able to keep in contact with someone on the other side of the world or even a mate down the country. But these sites can have a negative impact too as people become obsessed. Instead of ringing your friend or family member or just meeting up with them, we would rather sit for hours glued to a computer screen and become oblivious to  whats going on around us.

Bebo was the first proper social network I got involved in and it was great . It was new, interesting and I was finally starting to use a computer and wasn't so computer illiterate anymore. Like the technology is amazing and being part of it is even more amazing but there was also a downfall. I sat for hours in front of it and became a bit of a zombie. But when facebook became the new and better social network I got a bit wiser but still was slightly obsessed.

I do think social networking is good for keeping in touch and learning more about technlogy and its for everyone too.But things like online bullying among teens  and a woman who killed her baby who wouldn't stop crying when she was playing farmville is terrifying.

We need to learn to enjoy these social networks in moderation and not become physco obsessed people who have nothing better to do then sit infront of a screen all day living life online.. but instead go out and live it and not be so reliant on facebook or twitter to interact with people.

Me and Online PR

Online PR is one of my more enjoyable lectures.I actually dont mind going to this class. In my opinion it is a subject that is relevant to our course. The world is pretty much online and everything from shopping to getting the newspaper to ordering a take-away or renting a dvd can be done online.Even getting an education can be done online. The internet will continue to grow as the years go on and will become more advanced so we need to be able to keep up.

In OnlinePR lecture we learn about e-business and advertising online. This is a big part of today as majority of people are online. We learn how quick this can change from one day to another. We can now create a webpage and blogs which is incredibly useful to our public relations degree.Social networking is highlighted in this course and how influential it is to us and to advertising online. We learn how to use techniques that will be relevant to us in the fututre and help us progress in our career in PR.

So yeah, Online PR is pretty important and relevant in todays society.

Due Date

Went to see due date at the weekand which has  Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galifianakis(Alan from the Hangover) in it...Downey plays an expecting father Peter Highman( Downey) who has a random encounter with Ethan Tramblay (Galifianakis). This film was really funny and I had a really good laugh at it.  Downey is extremely short tempered and his random outbursts of rage are brilliant . Galifianakis character "Ethan" has a unique way of gettin under downey's skin...His one liners "Dad, You where like a father to me" lol and incredibly stupid personality make this film. He's not as good as Alan from the Hangover but I still got a really good laugh from his performance. Due Date is a good film to see if you want a laugh , you might think it could of been better and funnier bit it's still worth going to see, well i think so .
